BESTIVAL
RYDE SLIDE COMPETITION – TERMS & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
These terms and conditions govern the
Bestival Ryde Slide Competition (the “Competition”), whereby members of the
public have the opportunity to participate in the giant water slide event
taking place on Union Street, Ryde on 17th July 2016. By entering the Competition,
you accept the terms and conditions below. Please read them carefully.
The
Competition has been organised to raise funds for charities local to Ryde and
the Isle of Wight All proceeds will go to Local Charities - Aspire Ryde
Community Centre (Holy Trinity Church), Ryde Inshore rescue(Independent
lifeboat), Wight Brain Bunch, Ryde Arena and The Waterside Trust.
Primarily
by means of donations taken at the point of entry from participants via SMS or
via this website, and all proceeds will be donated to these selected charities.
However, it is not necessary to make a donation to enter the Competition. The
options for entry can be accessed via the main page of the website.

If the entrant is under 18 then the
entry should be made with full permission from his or her parent or guardian.
All entries should be submitted in the entrant’s own name. For safety reasons
under 16s will not be permitted to ride the water slide.
2.
Multiple entries per person are
permitted.
3.
Participants must supply full details
as required by the entry form and must have a valid email address to
participate.
4.
The closing date for the Competition is
11.59pm on Tuesday 28th June. All
entries must be submitted before this time in order to be entered into the Competition.
5.
All participants will be entered into a
draw, which will take place on Wednesday 6th July.
6.
Three hundred (300) entries will be
randomly selected as winners and each winner will be permitted to ride the
water slide on Sunday 17th July, subject to these terms and
conditions.
7.
The water slide will be in operation
between the hours of 11am and 6pm on the day of the event.
8.
Winners will be notified by
confirmation email within five (5) days of the date of the draw, which will
confirm the time the winner must present themselves at the top of Union Street
in Ryde.
9.
Winners must be prepared to evidence
their winning entry when attending the slide on the day of the event, and
should bring a copy of their confirmation email and a valid form of identification.
Bestival reserves the right to refuse entry to any individual who is unable to
prove their identity.
10. Reasonable
efforts will be made to contact the winners. If a winner cannot be
contacted, or is unable to comply with these terms & conditions, Bestival
reserves the right to offer the prize to another eligible entrant.
11. Failure
to respond, or failure to meet the eligibility requirements may result in
forfeiture of the opportunity to ride the slide.
12. All
winners must ensure they bring towels and appropriate clothing for wearing on
the water slide. Bestival may decline to allow any winner to ride the slide if,
in Bestival’s opinion, the winner is inappropriately
attired, or wearing clothing likely to cause damage to the slide or injury to
any person.
13. Bestival
reserves the right to refuse entry to the slide to individuals who, in Bestival’s reasonable opinion, are incapacitated or unfit
to ride the slide, or otherwise capable of causing injury to his or herself or
to other participants.
14. The
prize is not inclusive of accommodation or travel expenses incurred by any
participant.
15.
Bestival does not accept any liability for
any entries which are lost, misdirected or delayed as a result of any technical
malfunction whether through a website failure, internet service provider
failure, virus or otherwise.
16. Bestival
shall have no liability for loss of any kind (including the loss of personal
property) arising in connection with the winner’s use of, or failure to use the
slide, including circumstances where Bestival cancels the event or alters the
time, date or location of the event for any reason whatsoever.
17. Winners
are advised to exercise caution while using the slide and participate at their
own risk. Neither Bestival nor the owner of the slide XS Events Limited shall
have liability for death or injury of any kind (whether direct or indirect)
arising from any winners use of the slide, save where
liability cannot be excluded in law.
18. Bestival
accepts no liability for any illness or injury resulting from overexertion of
or any precipitation or aggravation or a medical condition caused by the use of
the slide.
19. Bestival
cannot accept responsibility for a winner being unable to take up the
opportunity to use the slide for any reason. In such circumstances, Bestival
shall have no liability for any loss of any kind incurred by a winner.
20. Each Competition
winner irrevocably grants Bestival, its affiliates and third party commercial
partners the right indefinitely and throughout the world, without any
expectation of compensation or further notification, to use the
entrant's submission to the Competition in any media, including, but not
limited to television, video, internet and any other printed or written material
in connection therewith (including competition winner lists) and waives all
rights of inspection and approval in relation to the foregoing. Competition
winners should in particular be aware that filming and/or photography will take
place at the slide during the event day.
21. By
entering this Competition each entrant agrees that they may be asked to take
part in reasonable publicity relating to this Competition, however this is not
obligatory.
22. Bestival
may amend or alter these terms and conditions where necessary without prior
notice being given.
23. This Competition
is run in accordance with the guidelines of the Code of Advertising Practice.
24. Personal
data will be taken where necessary from all entries received but shall be
limited to those details reasonably necessary for the administration of the Competition.
This information may be shared with any other third party reasonably involved
in the Competition without liability to Bestival or such third parties.
25.
This Competition is governed by and construed in accordance with the
laws of England and Wales and the Courts of England and Wales shall have sole
jurisdiction over any dispute.
26. Bestival
Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 05033094,
is the promoter of the Competition. Correspondence regarding the Competition
